Galva police report for June 23-29

June 23:

Police were notified that a vehicle was being repossessed in the 00 block of NW 4th Street. It was removed without any issues.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded to complaints at several addresses on the NW side of town involving juveniles knocking on doors and then running away. The officer did not locate anyone.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of Main Street. The officer was unable to locate the animal.

June 24:

Police responded to a disturbance between siblings in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to file a report involving identity theft.

Police responded three times to an activated panic alarm in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a faulty sensor.

Police responded to a child custody exchange in the 200 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a wild animal complaint after a possum was found inside a downtown business. The officer was able to remove it.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 300 block of NW 1st Street. It was determined to be an accidental dial.

Police responded to a complaint involving downed phone lines in the 400 block of SE 1st Street.

Police responded to an unattended fire in the 900 block of West Division Street. It was extinguished before the police arrived.

June 25:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 300 block of SE 3rd Street. The officer did not locate the animal

Police responded to a report of a loose horse in the roadway on Route 17 south of Galva. The owner was located and returned the horse to the pen.

June 26:

Police assisted a citizen in the 200 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 600 block of NW 7th Street. It was determined to be young kids playing with a phone.

A city ordinance violation was investigated by police in the 100 block of NW 6th Avenue.

A city ordinance violation was investigated by police in the 300 block of SE 7th Avenue.

Police responded to a child custody dispute in the 200 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call in the 800 block of North Center Avenue. It was a misdial.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage only in the 200 block of SE 6th Street. A crash report was completed.

Police were called to retrieve an unwanted subject in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue.

Brandon Swank, 29, Galva, was arrested for disorderly conduct after police responded a second time to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

June 27:

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a request to meet with solicitors who wanted a permit at City Hall.

While patrolling, police located an abandoned bicycle in a vacant lot in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a harassment complaint in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue. As a result, a subject was served with a written banning letter and told to leave the area.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 100 block of SE 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a possible theft complaint in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. Upon investigation, it was learned that a subject placed groceries into a similar vehicle, which soon drove away. The vehicle owner called shortly thereafter, and the groceries were returned to their rightful owner.

June 28:

While patrolling, police noticed a shopping cart abandoned in the 300 block of SW 4th Street. It was returned to the business that owns it.

Police responded to a report of criminal damage to property in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue.

Police responded to a report of a male subject screaming at a house near the intersection of NE 1st Avenue and NE 7th Street. The subject denied needing any services and rode away on a bicycle.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. The dog was impounded and later released back to its owner.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 300 block of NE 1st Street. It was determined to be young children playing with a phone.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of SW 2nd Street and SW 2nd Avenue. A crash report was completed.

Anthony Kummings, 38, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance, following a traffic stop in the 200 block of NW 4th Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the SW 6th Avenue railroad tracks. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

June 29:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 call that plotted at the Galva Park District. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Police were dispatched to watch for a reckless driver coming towards Galva on Route 34, West of town. town. The officer located the vehicle but did not observe any traffic violations to justify a traffic stop.

Police responded to a civil standby to retrieve property in the 1000 block of NW 7th Avenue.
