Galva police report for June 16-22

June 16:

Police responded to a landlord/tenant concern in the 600 block of NE 1st Avenue.

Police recovered property that had been dropped/lost in the 200 block of Exchange Street.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance between subjects known to each other in the 100 block of NW 3rd Avenue.

Amber Jordan, 30, Galva, was arrested for aggravated assault and disorderly conduct following a disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. She was taken to Henry County Jail.

Police responded to an abandoned vehicle complaint in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street.

John Kurzeja, 44, Galva, was issued a notice to appear in court for disorderly conduct after police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint after multiple phone calls and emails were sent to police dispatch with false claims in the 00 block of NE 4th Street. The subject refused to answer the door, so the notice was read aloud, and a copy was left on the doorstep.

Police assisted a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

June 17:

Police responded to a report of a suicidal subject on West Division Street. The complaint was unfounded.

Police responded to a trespassing complaint at the Galva South Water Treatment Plant.

Police responded to a child custody complaint in the 200 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a report of a motorist with a disabled vehicle on the Galva–Atkinson blacktop just north of town. The vehicle was gone upon the officer’s arrival.

Police assisted a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

Police responded to a report of a possible suicidal subject at a residence on NE 4th Street. The complaint was unfounded.

June 18:

Police responded to a complaint involving a large tree limb that fell, taking out a power wire, phone line and cable wire in the 500 block of NW 4th Avenue. Ameren was contacted and responded before the Galva Street Department cleaned up the limb.

Police assisted with traffic control for a survey crew conducting a seismic study on Route 34 just east of Galva.

Police responded to a report of a downed utility wire in the 400 block of SE 1st Street. It was determined to be a phone line. Frontier was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a cat bite complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. A subject was bitten by their cat after surprising it. The animal was found to be current on all its shots.

Anthony Kimmons, 38, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 100 block of SW 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SE 6th Avenue. The subject was fine.

Police assisted a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

While patrolling, police noticed a train had stopped and was blocking all Galva crossings. BNSF was contacted, and the train eventually moved along.

June 19:

Police located an open door on a building in the 200 block of NW 4th Avenue. The officer checked around and didn’t see anything unusual. The door was secured.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SW 4th Street. The subject was located and was fine.

Police responded to a complaint involving an abandoned grocery cart from a downtown business in the 300 block of SW 4th Street. The officer walked the cart back and returned it.

Police responded to a missing juvenile complaint in the 500 block of NW 7th Street. The child had left the residence on a bicycle and was quickly located and returned.

Braden Jones, 46, Galva, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving while his license was revoked following the location of a wanted subject in the 200 block of NE 7th Street. He was given a notice to appear in court and released.

Police responded to a juvenile mischief complaint in the 100 block of SE 6th Street.

Police responded to a neighbor dispute in the 300 block of NE 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Police assisted a citizen in the 200 block of SW 5th Street.

June 20:

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 300 block of Front Street.

Police responded to a harassment complaint in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a missing person complaint in the 300 block of SE 2nd Street. The subject was located and came back home.

Police responded to multiple calls by a resident, reporting various crimes that were unfounded in the 00 block of NE 4th Street. An arrest without warrant was signed for the offender’s arrest.

June 21:

Police responded to a complaint of a curfew violation in the 500 block of East Division Street. The subjects were old enough to be out after hours.

Nicholas Miller, 31, Galva, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, having expired registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle, following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage only in the 00 block of NE 3rd Street for a two-vehicle accident with damage only. A crash report was completed.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 500 block of SW 6th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police located a group of people at the Galva Cemetery after 10 pm. The subjects were checked and then advised of the cemetery hours. They were asked to leave.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 complaint in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

June 22:

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.

Police assisted a subject who was walking at the intersection of Industrial Ave and SE 8th Street.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue.

John Kurzeja was located and arrested for several counts of disorderly conduct-filing a false police report. He was taken to Henry County Jail.
