June 10:

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. The building was found to be secure. False alarm.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage only in the 300 block of SW 3rd Avenue. A crash report was completed.

Police responded to a report of an article of drug paraphernalia found in the grass at Wiley Park. It was taken to be destroyed.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage-only in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. A crash report was completed.

Police were flagged down about a loose dog in the 100 block of SE 1st Avenue. The officer located the dog, however, he was not able to capture it.

Police met with a resident concerning child custody issues at the Police Department.

Police responded to a civil standby to retrieve property in the 300 block of SE 2nd Avenue.

Police assisted the ambulance with a medical call involving a 2-year-old child ingesting ant bait.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at the wooden viaduct west of town. Several subjects were located and told to move along.

Police responded to a loud noise complaint involving a roofing crew in the 500 block of NW 2nd Street. The subjects advised they were getting ready to leave for the day.

June 11:

Police responded to an open 9-1-1 call that plotted to the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer spoke to many subjects but could not locate anyone needing assistance.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 500 block of SW 6th Street. It was determined to be a solicitor.

Police assisted the ambulance with an elderly subject who fell and struck their head after a dog they had on a leash pulled them down in Wiley Park.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.

Police were advised of a controlled burn taking place near the north water treatment plant on NE 9th Street.

Police responded to a loud noise complaint in the 500 block of NW 2nd Street. The officer spoke to a roofing company, who were cleaning up for the evening.

June 12:

Police responded to a burglary/theft complaint in the 100 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the Exchange Street railroad crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of NE 3rd Street. Both parties reported it was a verbal disagreement.

June 13:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of SW 4th Street. An area resident approached the officer and advised it was their dog. It was taken inside.

Police spoke with a resident by telephone about their submitted Freedom of Information Act request. A copy of a report was placed in the mail for them.

Police responded to a report of a debit card found on a property in the 800 block of NW 3rd Avenue. It was placed in the lost-and-found and the Galva Police Department.

Police responded to an activated panic alarm in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. It was a false alarm.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the area of South Center Avenue and Commercial Street. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.

Police responded to an illegal burning complaint in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue. The subject extinguished the fire and was advised of the burning ordinance.

Police responded to a disturbance after a neighbor heard glass breaking in the 900 block of West Division Street. The residents denied any knowledge of a disturbance.

Police responded to a juvenile complaint involving kids throwing rocks at a window in the 500 block of SW 5th Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

June 14:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call complaint in the 200 block of Market Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on NE 2nd Avenue. The subject reported a verbal dispute but said they were fine.

Police met with a resident to provide them with a copy of a police report as part of a Freedom of Information Act request at the Galva Police Department.

Police responded to a complaint of a subject slowly walking Eastbound and appearing confused in the 800 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer spoke with the subject who said they were walking to Milan. The subject declined a ride and continued walking.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 800 block of West Division Street. The dog was impounded and later retrieved by its owner.

June 15:

Police responded to a trash complaint in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a utility wire complaint in the 500 block of SE 1st Street. This has previously been reported. Frontier was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a complaint involving a subject who was suffering from a mental health crisis and throwing medication from a moving vehicle in the downtown area. A couple of pills were located and disposed of.

Jed O’Dell, 18, Cambridge, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance after a traffic stop in the 500 block of West Division Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a complaint involving a subject reportedly looking through items at an unattended yard sale in the 500 block of SW 5th Avenue.

Timothy Derry, 61, Galva, was cited for not having a valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured vehicle after a traffic stop in the 300 block of SW 1st Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

June 16:

Police responded to a complaint involving a large tree limb that fell onto the roadway in the 700 block of NW 3rd Avenue. The Galva Street Dept. was contacted for removal.
