Galva police report for July 28-Aug. 3

July 28:

Police responded to a report of a deceased dog in the roadway in the 600 block of South Center Avenue. The officer located the owner and returned the dog for burial.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to assist a citizen.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to do a follow up from a verbal disturbance the previous night.

While patrolling, police located a loose dog in the 100 block of NE 1st Street. The owner quickly arrived and took custody of the dog.

Police responded to a wild animal complaint involving a fox stuck in a fence in the 600 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a report of the smell of natural gas in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The officer could not detect any smell or find the source of the odor.

July 29:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 500 block of NW 5th Avenue. The officer determined it was a young child playing with a phone.

Police responded to a city ordinance violation complaint involving grass clippings being blown into the roadway in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street. The complaint was unfounded.

While patrolling, police located a loaded garbage truck with a broken rear axle in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. A flatbed semi-truck arrived and loaded up the truck.

Police responded to a report of a subject pointing a BB gun towards the roadway in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate the source of the complaint.

Police responded to an aggressive dog complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. After reviewing video footage, it was determined that the dog was on a leash and did not appear threatening.

Police responded to a disturbance involving a subject threatening residents with a baseball bat in the 100 block of NW 2nd Avenue. The offender was served a written banning notice after the victims declined to prosecute.

July 30:

Police followed up on an animal complaint from the previous night in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line in the 700 block of West Division Street. The officer located the caller and determined it was a pocket dial.

July 31:

While patrolling, police noticed that a train had stopped and was blocking every Galva crossing. After a short bit, it moved just enough to open the SW 6th Avenue crossing. However, the gates were still activated. The officer directed traffic until it eventually moved along, eastbound, and all of the crossings were cleared.

Police responded to an illegal burning complaint in the 600 block of North Center Avenue.

Police responded to a child custody dispute in the 100 block of NE 9th Street.

Police assisted Henry County with a traffic stop north of town.

Aug. 1:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 300 block of SE 5th Street. The owner arrived and took custody of the dog.

Hailie Vickers, 22, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Main Street. She was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 400 block of South Center Avenue. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police, along with Henry County deputies, responded to a physical altercation in the 300 block of Front Street. After follow-up interviews, the victim decided not to prosecute.

Police, along with Henry County deputies, responded to remove an intoxicated and unruly patron from the 300 block of Front Street.

Police responded to a complaint of theft and criminal damage to property in the 300 block of NW 2nd Avenue. After further investigation, it was determined that yard ornaments were damaged, and a bicycle was stolen by an intoxicated neighbor. The victim declined to prosecute.

Aug. 2:

Police, along with Stark County Medic, responded to a report of a patient falling about 20 feet at a residence on SW 6th Avenue.

Police responded to an activated lifeline in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. It was determined to be an accidental activation.

Aug. 3:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 400 block of SE 4th Avenue for a 9-1-1 hang-up call. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.

Police responded to a complaint about a group of juveniles knocking on doors and then running off in the 800 block of NW 1st Avenue. The officer was not able to locate anyone in the area.
