Galva police report for July 1-7

July 1:

Police assisted a motorist whose keys had been locked inside a car in the 800 block of NW 7th Avenue. Tarleton’s were contacted to assist.

Police followed up on an impounded dog in the 800 block of West Division Street.

Police responded to a traffic complaint in the 600 block of Swank Street. The suspect was located and advised of the complaint.

July 2:

Police responded to a welfare check in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The subject was fine.

Police responded to a subject having a mental health crisis in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police responded to a neglected animal complaint in the 500 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a welfare check on SW 4th Street. The resident was found to be deceased. The Henry County Coroner and Illinois State Police-Crime Scene Services assisted the Galva Police Department.

Police responded to a traffic complaint involving three juveniles riding off-highway motorbikes on the roadway in the 600 block of NE 4th Street. The subjects were located, spoken to, warned, and advised to push the minibikes back home.

Police responded to a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 200 block of SW 7th Street.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 500 block of SW 4th Street. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

July 3:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 500 block of East Division Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

While patrolling, police located a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of SW 4th Street. Two subjects were cleaning up the property and were told to move along.

Police were flagged down about a dog that ran away in the 500 block of NW 1st Street. The officer could not locate the animal.

Police were notified about a missing adult who left Galesburg earlier today and had not returned to their Galva residence. The officer went to the residence and located the subject.

Michael Seale, 40, Kewanee, was cited for not having a valid driver’s license after a traffic stop in the 100 block of SW 3nd Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

Brandon Rebout, 41, Galesburg, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 1200 block of SE 2nd Street.

July 4:

Police responded to a complaint of a dog running at large in the 600 block of NE 4th Street. The owner was nearby, and the dog was returned.

Police were notified about a possible sale of alcohol to an underage subject in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. After a short investigation, the complaint was unfounded.

Kevin Hampton, 47, Rantoul, was issued an administrative warning ticket (AWT) for illegal fireworks in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street and his remaining fireworks were confiscated.

Police responded to a motorist assist who got stuck in the mud at the Galva viaduct west of town. They were able to get out before the police arrived.

July 5:

Police checked on a suspicious car that was parked at a closed business in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a residence in Galva for a subject that was threatening suicide while being live-streamed on social media. The officers could not find the subject in Galva and referred it to the Kewanee Police Department. The KPD was able to locate the subject and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police were notified about a stop sign that had been destroyed at the Route 34 / Route 17 junction west of town. IDOT was notified and a temporary sign was placed there.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 00 block of SE 4th Street. It was confirmed to be a pocket dial.

Police spoke with a subject who had possible information about a missing cat from town in the 300 block of SW 2nd Avenue.

July 6:

Police spoke to a resident by telephone about a landline phone issue. Frontier was notified for repairs.

Police responded to a city ordinance violation for long grass and weeds in the 100 block of SW 7th Street. The resident was given time to correct the issue.

Police responded to an illegal fireworks complaint in the 500 block of NW 5th Street.

July 7:

Police responded to a report of a subject having a mental health crisis in the 600 block of NW 7th Street.
