Galva police report for Jan. 13-19

Jan. 13:

Police responded to a complaint involving a scam in the 300 block of SE 8th Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 400 block of NW 4th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Jan. 14:

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 500 block of SW 6th Avenue. The officer checked the area but was not able to locate anyone.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department about a fraud and forgery complaint.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 400 block of NW 4th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded to a child custody dispute in the 300 block of Front Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 400 block of NE 9th Street. The call was plotted at a tower. No other calls were received. The officer was unable to locate anyone needing assistance.

Jan. 15:

Police responded to an abandoned vehicle complaint on private property at the north edge of Galva. The officer located a note advising the vehicle had mechanical issues and would be removed shortly.

Police spoke with a subject by telephone to gather additional information about a runaway juvenile from last week.

Jan. 16:

Ryan Johnson, 49, Dunlap, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license (expired more than 3 years) and not having a valid registration (expired more than 1 year) following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

Jan. 17:

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 400 block of SW 3rd Street. The officer was not able to locate the subject.

Police responded to a report of criminal damage to a vehicle complaint in the 100 block of SW 10th Avenue. A vehicle was reportedly shot with a BB gun.

Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Morgan Road. The subject was waiting for somebody.

Cameron Ralstin, 26, Toulon, was arrested for driving while license was suspended following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of E 2nd Street. He was taken to the Galva Police Department for processing and released with a required court date.

Xavior Calvin, 26, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when out-of-state registration was suspended following a traffic stop in the 200 block of SE 5th Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

Jan. 18:

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage only in the 700 block of NW 3rd Avenue. A crash report was completed.

Police responded to a loud music complaint in the 300 block of SE 3rd Street. The offender was advised to turn the music down.

Police responded to a possible fireworks complaint in the 500-600 block of NW 1st Avenue. The officer was not able to locate anyone.

Police and the fire department responded to an active fire alarm in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

George Johnson, 26, Kewanee, was arrested for criminal damage to property, resisting and/or obstructing a police officer, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving while license suspended and battery following a request to remove an unruly and unwanted patron in the 300 block of Front Street. As police arrived, the suspect fled in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. The officer pursued and the driver bailed out and ran into a house in the 300 block of SE 1st Avenue. Officers from Henry County, Stark County, and Galva arrived to assist. Johnson was taken to the Henry County Jail.

Jan. 19:

Police and the Fire Department responded to an activated fire alarm in the 900 block of West Division Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to complete fingerprinting for an employment opportunity.

Police responded to a complaint about burning in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a disturbance complaint in the 100 block of SE 6th Avenue.
