Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 500 block of NE 3rd Street. The dog was returned to its owner.
Police responded to a complaint for threats involving juveniles in the 300 block of NE 5th Street.
Police responded to a complaint of telephone harassment in the 700 block of NW 4th Avenue.
Police spoke with a subject by telephone about a welfare check request on an adult daughter living in Galva.
Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 300 block of NE 6th Street.
April 30:
Police responded to a report of a semi-truck with a small fire in the rear brakes in the 200 block of South Exchange Street. The fire department also responded and checked the vehicle.
Police were stopped by a citizen who found a small amount of cannabis in a child’s possession in the 900 block of North Center Avenue. The item was taken for destruction.
Police were flagged down by a citizen in reference to a cat that ran away as they arrived at the veterinary clinic in the 900 block of North Center Avenue. The cat was not located.
Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue.
Police responded to a complaint of a downed utility wire in the 200 block of NE 5th Street. Mediacom was notified for repairs.
Police spoke to a resident who was blowing grass into the roadway in the 500 block of SE 3rd Avenue. They were advised that it was against city ordinance and state law.
Police responded to a complaint about a neighbor’s dog in the 500 block of SE 4th Street.
Allen Shoen, 33, Galva, was arrested for driving while his license was suspended and for operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Center Avenue. He was processed at the Galva Police Department and released with a required court date.
May 1:
Police responded to a report of a suicidal suspect at a residence on SW 2nd Avenue.
Police responded to a flag-down complaint in the 300 block of NE 5th Street.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 300 block of NW 3rd Avenue. It was determined to be a misdial.
Police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 300 block of Main Street. The officer checked the area and was not able to locate anyone.
Police responded to a solicitor complaint in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street. The subject was found to have a valid permit.
May 2:
Police responded to a traffic complaint in the 600 block of West Division Street. The officer located the offender and a report was sent to the State’s Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. The officer spoke to a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
Police were called to collect several debit cards that had been found along the road on the 00 block of Wallace Street. The Officer walked the same route and found several more items. The owner was contacted and the items were returned.
Police responded to a civil complaint involving a subject cutting down a tree that landed on a house, causing damage in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.
Police responded to a request to assist Knox County with a trash dumping complaint in the 00 block of SE 2nd Avenue.
Police responded to a burglary complaint at the storage units in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. Several padlocks were cut off and destroyed.
Police responded to a theft complaint in the 100 block of NE 9th Street.
Police responded to a report of a suicidal suspect at a residence on NW 2nd Avenue. Several loaded handguns were removed, and the subject was taken by ambulance for treatment/evaluation.
May 3:
Police responded to a domestic battery report in the 200 block of NW 4th Avenue.
Police responded to a 0-1-1 open line complaint in the 100 block of NE 4th Street. It was determined to be a pocket dial.
Police assisted the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with a fatal car vs bicycle accident several miles south of Kewanee.
May 4:
Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.
Police responded to a medical emergency involving an intoxicated subject that kept falling on SW 8th Avenue.
Police provided traffic control for a few minutes as the Abate Motorcycle Awareness Ride passed through town.
Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on NW 2nd Avenue.
Police responded to a disturbance complaint in the 200 block of NW 1st Avenue.
While patrolling, police located a small child falling out of a window at Sentry Estates. The officer made contact with a parent.
Vanessa Chavez, 30, Galesburg, was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle, driving while license is suspended, and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. She was processed at the Galva Police Department and released with a required court date.
May 5:
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 1000 block of West Division Street. The Officer was unable to locate the animal.
Police responded to a reckless driver complaint at the south edge of town. The officer was not able to locate the subject.
