Galva police report for April 21-27

April 21:

Police assisted the Kewanee Police Department with a call involving shots being fired in the 500 block of South Main Street.

Police met with a sex offender at the Galva Police Department to update their registration as they were moving out of town. A notification form was completed and emailed to Henry Co for LEADS entry.

Police were called to check on several juveniles who “appeared to be suspicious” in the 00 block of NW 3rd Street. The officer located the juveniles. This complaint was unfounded.

Police met with a citizen who needed to pick up stolen vehicle parts that the Galva Police Department had recovered for the Knoxville Police Department last week.

April 22:

Police spoke to a resident by telephone over concerns about an animal’s welfare. The animal appeared to be fine.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone who needed assistance.

Nusturia Vaughn, 70, Kewanee, was arrested for driving while her license was suspended, operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. She was released with a required Kewanee court date.

Christi Knapp, 45, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Exchange Street. She was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a solicitor complaint in the 400 block of SE 3rd Street. The officer checked the area and was not able to locate anyone.

Jiliane Johnson, 45, Altona, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 600 block of NW 11th Street. She was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a complaint of a door being open on a vacant house in the 300 block of SE 4th Avenue. Nobody was present. The officer contacted the owner, who advised that it was accidentally left open.

Corina Jaco, 50, Galva, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear on the charge of battery following an attempt to locate a wanted subject in the 500 block of SW 3rd Street. She was taken to Henry County Jail.

April 23:

Police were flagged down about a low-hanging wire in the 200 block of SE 3rd Avenue. The officer determined it was a coaxial cable. Mediacom was notified for repairs.

Police responded to a civil standby to exchange property in the 00 block of SW 8th Avenue.

Police completed a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 00 block of NE 8th Avenue.

Police responded to a telephone harassment complaint in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to a parking complaint on a city-owner alleyway in the 200 block of SE 4th Avenue. The vehicle was moved.

April 24:

Police spoke to a resident about a city ordinance violation in the 400 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Police spoke to a resident about a city ordinance violation in the 600 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 700 block of NW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a verbal domestic dispute in the 00 block of SW 9th Avenue.

Police assisted the Kewanee Police Department in attempting to locate a suicidal subject somewhere between Galva and Kewanee. The suspect was located by Henry County and transported to an area hospital.

April 25:

Jamie Howard, 36, Galva, was arrested on a Knox County warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving while license is suspended, operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle after police attempted to locate a wanted subject in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue. Knox County requested that she be released with a new Knox County court date.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 600 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of NW 8th Avenue.

Police responded to a report of young children playing close to the tracks near the NE 2nd Street crossing.

Police responded to a civil standby in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person asking to use the restroom in the 100 block of SE 1st Avenue. The officer was not able to locate anyone.

Amanda Vest, 46, Galesburg, was issued citations for speeding and expired registration in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue.

April 26:

Police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 200 block of SW 6th Street.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance between father and son in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded again to a verbal disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police assisted a motorist with a lockout in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. Henry County was able to unlock the door.

Police responded to a neighbor dispute in the 400 block of NW 1st Street.

Patrick Hammons, 69, Galva, was issued citations for disobeying a stop sign, speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 500 block of SW 7th Street.

Bonnie Schilling, 74, Lafayette, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of North Center Ave.

April 27:

Police responded to an open door on a vacant house in the 400 block of East Division Street. The door was pulled shut.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Police responded to a suspicious noise complaint after the resident heard someone outside in the 300 block of NW 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone.

Donald Anders, 48, Siler City, N.C., was issued a citation for speeding in the 600 block of North Center Ave.

Patrick Hammons, 69, Galva, was issued citations for failure to yield the right of way at a stop intersection and operating an uninsured vehicle following a two-vehicle accident with damage at the intersection of SW 6th Street and SW 1st Avenue. A crash report was completed.
