Galva police report for April 1-7

April 1:

Police met with a resident at the Galva PD about a noise complaint involving neighborhood vehicles driving recklessly late at night.

Police responded to a residence for a suicidal subject on SW 4th Street. Stark County Medic also responded and transported the subject for evaluation/treatment.

Police responded to a request for a citizen on the 00 block of SW 2nd Street.

Jaxon Schultz, 19, East Galesburg, was issued a citation for speeding in the 400 block of South Center Avenue.

April 2:

Police assisted Stark County Medic with a medical emergency on NW 7th Street.

Police responded to a disturbance complaint in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street.

April 3:

Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle that had run out of gas in the 00 block of James B Young Road. The vehicle was removed by the owner later in the day.

Police assisted the fire department with a complaint of the odor of natural gas in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. The odor was confirmed, and Ameren was notified.

Jeffrey McBride, 28, Wyoming, was arrested on a Whiteside County warrant for driving while license revoked following a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 100 block of NE 9th Street. There was no bond and McBride was transported to the Henry County Jail.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

April 4:

Police responded to a report of a possible intruder trying to gain access to a residence in the 100 block of NW 8th Avenue. The officer checked the surroundings and determined that an outer storm door was swinging and slamming in the wind.

Shannon Williams, 48, Galva, was arrested on a Monrovia, California, warrant for rape-by force/fear. Police assisted the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension task force with the arrest on a nation-wide warrant in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. He was unable to post the required $550,000 cash bail and was transported to the Henry County Jail to await extradition back to California.

Police responded to an activated burglary alarm in the 00 block of NW 3rd Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police observed a dog running loose with the owner close behind it in the 800 block of NE 3rd Avenue. The dog was captured and returned home.

Police observed that a train had stopped, and all Galva crossings were blocked. Employees of BNSF were contacted and said they were having mechanical issues. The train eventually was able to move along.

Police assisted the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop in the 300 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

April 5:

Police were flagged down to answer questions about Galva’s burning ordinance in the 00 block of NE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a neighbor complaint in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

A 16-year-old juvenile was issued a juvenile referral to court services for the charge of criminal damage to property after meeting with police concerning a traffic complaint the previous week.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 100 block of SW 7th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Larry Colwell, 31, Galva, was arrested for failing to appear on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after police recognized him as a subject with a Henry County warrant while out patrolling on NW 7th Avenue. His warrant had no bond, so he was transported to the Henry County Jail.

Police spoke to a subject at the Galva Police Department concerning an impounded vehicle.

Police responded to a complaint involving a hitchhiker walking in the west edge of town. The officer was not able to locate the subject.

Police, along with the fire department, responded to a smoke report in the area of NW 8th Street and NW 5th Avenue. The officer and fire department were not able to locate anything.

Police responded to a complaint involving a juvenile making suicidal threats at a residence on North Center Avenue. The juvenile was transported by ambulance for evaluation/treatment.

Police responded to a request to check the welfare of a juvenile subject at a residence on Main Street. The juvenile was located at a different residence on SE 3rd Street and was fine.

April 6:

Police responded to a request to check the welfare of a hitchhiker who appeared to be sleeping in the ditch on Route 34 near Midland Road. The subject refused any police services and continued walking eastbound towards Kewanee.

Police responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 100 block of NE 9th Street.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 300 block of Swank Street. The dog was impounded and about an hour later, the owner was located and collected the animal.

Bryce Shores, 27, Galva, was issued citations for not having any registration and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 300 block of Main Street.

April 7:

Police responded to a complaint of criminal damage to property at railroad tracks on Chester Street.

Police responded to a complaint involving a suspicious incident in the 300 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

Robert DeJaynes, 53, Oneida, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.
