Once again, the Galva Kiwanis club members are paying homage to St. Valentine, the patron Saint of Love, with a steak dinner for sweethearts of all ages. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Galva American Legion on Wallace Street. The cost of a meal is $25.
A baked potato, salad, green beans, a roll, drink and dessert accompany an 8 oz. New York strip steak. The meal is prepared and served by Kiwanis club members. Dine-in or carry-out is available.
Fundraising events such as the Valentine’s Day dinner help the club fund projects for Galva Elementary such as the K-kids club and handbells. The club also provides items for children in need in the community, books through four Little Free Libraries and a free “Seed Box” program to promote gardening.
“The dinner is a great night out,” said Angie Burford, one of the original organizers of the Galva club, adding “The Kiwanis members enjoy it as much as the diners.”
She hopes that area residents will use this opportunity to take a special someone to the event. The benefits are two-fold explained Burford.
“Participants get a great meal, and the club can use any profits derived from ticket sales to give back to the community,” she said.
