Galva residents will soon have the chance to clear out clutter and refresh their homes as the city launches its annual cleanup week from June 16-21. With extended hours at the maintenance yard and curbside pickup available for those in need, this initiative aims to make waste disposal more convenient while keeping the community clean and organized.
Residents are encouraged to bring items to Galva’s Maintenance Yard, using the driveway between Preferred Home Health Care and Mary’s Family Dining and Lounge. A roll-off dumpster will be available for disposal.
For individuals who are handicapped, elderly or otherwise unable to transport items, curbside pickup is available. Items must be placed at the curb by Monday, June 16. Residents requiring assistance must call City Hall beforehand to arrange a pickup.
Due to limited staff, pickups will be one-time only per residence, and items must be at the curb—no backyard or structure pickups. Additionally, items should not be placed curbside more than 48 hours prior to June 16.
Certain items will not be accepted, including shingles, anti-freeze, LP tanks, yard waste, paint and hazardous materials. Tires will be accepted for a fee based on size.
For televisions and electronic components, disposal will be available at Eagle Enterprises during their normal business hours for a fee. Residents with questions about electronic disposal can contact Eagle Enterprises at 309-932-2936.
To accommodate residents, the maintenance yard will be open with extended hours:
June 16–19: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June 20: Open until 3 p.m.
June 21: 7 a.m. to noon
