A small fire at the local hardware store and market didn’t stop the local fire department from participating in the parade.
Fire trucks from both Galva and Bishop Hill were prepared for the Old Fashioned Christmas Parade held in Galva on Saturday, Nov. 30 when they were called to respond to a fire at Hathaway’s Ace Hardware and Fresh Market on Market Street.
According to owner John Hathaway, “a ballast overheated, and my staff handled it well,” adding that the Galva Fire Department is second to none.
Things were quickly restored at the store and market and the local fire department participated in the parade as planned.
