Start your Fourth of July festivities off with a bang or wrap them up with fireworks displays at several area events happening around Henry County. Here’s the list:
Kewanee Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Display
When: Tuesday, July 4
Where: Northeast Park
Time: 7:30 pm; the Kewanee Veterans Council will kick off the evening with the presentation of colors. A musical performance will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Official remarks will be made at 9:30 p.m., followed by the start of the fireworks display at 9:45 pm.
The 4th of July Car Truck and Motorcycle Show-Tractor Show and Flea Market
When: Tuesday, July 4
Where: Francis Park
Time: 9 am to 3 pm; Registration for the car show begins at 9 am. The flea market will be held at the same time. In addition, tractors will be on exhibit, and food vendors will be selling food and drinks. The event is sponsored by Gustafson Ford and proceeds will go to several charities including the Honor Flight, the Henry County Humane Society/Kewanee Shelter, and the Hog Capital Wildlife Rescue.
Galva Lions Annual Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast
When: Tuesday, July 4th
Where: Wiley Park
Time: 7-9 am
Galva Freedom Fest 5 K
When: Tuesday, July 4
Where: Wiley Park
Time: Pre-registration through June 24. Registration begins at 7-745 am. Race begins at 8 am.
Galva Fireworks Display
When: Saturday, July 8
Where: Galva Park District
Time: Galva American Legion Hagberg-Hamlin Presentation of Colors at 7 pm.
Food vendors and National Anthem at 9 pm. Fireworks begin at dusk.
Mineral Funday and Fireworks
When: , Sunday, July 2
Where: Mineral
Times: Bags tournament begins at 11 am with registration at 10 am. Food and drink stand opens at noon followed by the parade at 1 pm. From 3 to 5 pm, bingo is scheduled. Other events include a camel kissing booth, kids activities and petting zoo, a 50/50 drawing at 8 pm, followed by the fireworks display at dusk. Geneseo Thrill on the Hill Fireworks Show
When: Saturday, July 1
Where: Richmond Hill Park
Time: 5:30 pm to 10 pm; events include food and beverages provided by VFW and Uncle Bud’s Apple Cider Slush from 5:30 pm to 9 pm; Children’s activities at the Geneseo Community Center from 5:30 pm-7 pm.; Music from The Knockoffs from 6:30 pm to 9 pm; face painting by The Painted Dragon from 6 -8 pm, and Hair Tinsel by Jenna Sullivan from 6-8 pm. The fireworks display is provided by J&M Display and is set for dusk.
Geneseo Kiwanis Pork in the Park
When: Tuesday, July 4
Where: Geneseo City Park
Time: 11 am to 2 pm
The Geneseo Kiwanis will be serving pork chop and pork patty dinners and drinks.
