Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out Friday afternoon at the Project NOW school on East Central Boulevard.
A witness said the fire in a pile of roofing panels created black smoke that could be seen from outside the city.
The insulation was being used in installing a new roof on the classroom building behind St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
The fire charred the roof in one spot, and several of the insulation panels appeared to have been destroyed.
The witness said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
