
Christopher A. Duffy, a Kewanee native and son of Cecil and Mary Duffy, has been promoted to the rank of Command Sergeant Major in the US Army.
Duffy enlisted in the Army in May of 2004 as an infantryman. He attended One Station Unit Training and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Ga. CSM Duffy has served as an ammunition specialist Squad Leader, S3 NCO, Platoon Sergeant, Airborne Instructor, Towner Branch Master Trainer, First Sergeant and Battalion Operations Sergeant Major.
His stateside assignments have included Fort Benning, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Fort Bliss, Tx., and Fort Drum, N.Y. His overseas assignments have included Fort Richardson, Ak. and deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and Tunisia for combat and advising operations.
CSM Duffy’s military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Advanced Leader Course, Maneuver Senior Leaders Course, TRADOC First Sergeant Course, Combat Advisor Training Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.
His civilian education includes Kewanee High School graduate, Associate in Arts degree from Black Hawk College and Bachelors of Science Degree from Western Illinois University.
Duffy resides in Fort Drum with his wife DeeAnna and his son Cody. His daughter Kerrigan and granddaughter, Emerie, live in Columbus, Ga.
A CSM is a non-commissioned rank and position of office in the Army. The CSM is appointed to serve as a spokesperson to address the issues of all soldiers, from enlisted to officers, to the Army’s highest positions.
