The Kewanee Police are reporting that a Kewanee man operating a vehicle that struck a power pole before striking a residence in the 300 block of East McClure Street Monday night was arrested and cited for multiple violations.
Jon D. Godsey, 25, was arrested and cited for reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and criminal damage to property x2.
The accident occurred April 1 shortly before 8 p.m. The Kewanee Police Department and the Kewanee Fire Department both arrived on the scene to find the car in the side yard of Frances Newman’s residence. Police worked to investigate the path the vehicle might have taken when it hit the pole and ended up a quarter of a block away in the yard.
No one was injured in the accident, but Newman said she was shaken by the incident and was watching television when it occurred. The vehicle hit the house so hard that it left a hole on the interior wall of her living room.
The vehicle also damaged the residence’s gas meter and generator and Ameren was called to the scene.
Godsey was issued a notice to appear in court.
