City issues boil order for parts of Kewanee’s West Side

By The Kewanee Voice    November 20, 2024

On Thursday, Nov. 21, the Kewanee Public Works Water Division will be making a repair to the water main in the area of Park Avenue.

Work is slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The following addresses will be without water on Thursday morning and into early afternoon as the water crews work on a water main in the area:

318 S. Grove St.

500 and 600 blocks of Park Avenue

233 and 234 S. Cottage St.

300 and 400s blocks of South Cottage Street.

607 Park Row.

602 W. Prospect St.

These residents will also be under a boil order until the test results come back, usually 24-48 hours.

Residents in this area may experience low water pressure or rusty water.

Residents are asked to take precautions when using water until the water runs clean. Only flush the system by running cold water, running hot water may draw rust into the water heater.

Water being consumed for drinking or eating is all that is under the boil order.

Using water for cleaning, laundry, showers, etc. does not need to be boiled.

The boil order is only for those that experience loss of water during this time.
