Galva Junior-Senior High School is welcoming Brad Jackson as the new girls varsity basketball coach this season.
“Coach Jackson brings a wealth of experience as he has coached basketball for 35 years with an overall record of 389 wins and 211 losses,” said Marland Rachel, Galva’s athletic director.

In his career, Jackson has been varsity high school coach for Alwood girls, West Central High School girls, Aledo High School boys and West Central boys and an assistant boys coach at Ridgewood.
During his tenure as basketball coach his knowledge of the game has resulted in:
Six Lincoln Trail Conference titles;
Five regional titles;
Three sectional titles;
Three Sweet Sixteen appearances;
Two Elite 8 appearances;
State runner-up 1994 state championship; and
12 IHSA State Tournament records.
He has been a four-time Illinois Basketball Coaches Association District Coach Of The Year and has been the Galesburg Register-Mail’s Coach of the Year.
He was selected as a coach for the Review Atlas All-Star Game, three times as a Pizza Hut All-Star game and twice as a host for the Monmouth Classic All-Star Game.
In addition, he has had some of his teams set IHSA season girls basketball records:
Ranked first in most field goals made in a season with 1,142 of 2,622 in 32 games;
Ranked second in most points in a season with 2,818 points in 32 games (88 points average per game)
Ranked fourth most rebounds in a season with 1,550 in 32 games (48 per game average).
“With his experience and knowledge of the game, all of us here welcome Coach Jackson to the staff and are excited to see where this season goes,” Rachel said.
