A bicyclist was killed in a single car traffic crash that occurred on Friday, May 3 at 10:30 p.m., according to a statement released by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the area of 3342 Rt. 34 after receiving the report. The department released only preliminary information on the accident. The investigation is active and ongoing.
The bicyclist was transported from the scene to OSF Saint Luke Medical Center and pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the vehicle declined medical attention on the scene.
The road was closed for several hours following the accident but was reopened later. “Additional information will be released in the future and at the appropriate time to ensure proper notifications have been made,” the release stated.
