An investigation into a report of shots fired at a vehicle led to the arrest of a Kewanee man on multiple gun violations on Wednesday.

Jacob Dailey, 19, Kewanee, was arrested on formal charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony), Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Serial Number (Class 3 Felony), and two counts of Possession of a Firearm without a FOID (Class A).

The Class 1 Felony carries a possible prison sentence of 4 to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Dailey was also wanted on a Henry County Warrant for failure to appear on charges of Failure to Return from Furlough, Criminal Damage to Property, Theft, and various traffic-related violations.

According to a press release by the Kewanee Police Department, at approximately 3 am Wednesday, police officers responded to a complaint in the 700 block of Florence Street of an unknown male subject shooting at a vehicle traveling the roadway. Officers arrived in the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle, victims or any suspects.

An investigation was launched into the incident and officers conducted interviews, collected shell casings and gathered area surveillance footage. In addition, officers spoke with residents in the area where they believed a verbal altercation occurred before the shooting incident.

A lead was developed from the information that led police to two apartments in Fairview where they located several witnesses and an individual who was a passenger in the vehicle during the shooting. Further investigation led the police to two suspects, Dailey and a 16-year-old juvenile, at a residence in the 300 block of Ridyard Avenue.

While at the Ridyard residence, police located a loaded 9 m, Ruger semi-automatic pistol containing rounds consistent with the shell casing recovered at the scene.

Both Dailey and the juvenile were arrested and transported to the Kewanee Police Department.

Officers also conducted a search warrant at Dailey’s residence in the 1600 block of Lake Street. During the search warrant, officers located a loaded Ruger 9mm semi-automatic pistol with the serial number defaced, a break action 12-gauge shotgun, a Savage Arms 410 shotgun, a Glenfield .22 caliber rifle, and a Marlin .22 caliber rifle. Some of the 9mm rounds found with the Ruger 9mm located during the search warrant were also consistent with the shell casings collected in the 700 block of Florence Street.

Daily was later transported to the Henry County Jail where he was formally charged. The 16-year-old male juvenile was released to his parents without charges.

During the course of the investigation, Officers also arrested Shiann Ince, 23, Kewanee and Nathan Ager-Bolton, 26, Bradford. Ince was arrested for a Henry County Warrant for failure to appear on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. She was unable to post bond and was transported to the Henry County Jail. Ager-Bolton was arrested for Criminal Trespass to State Supported Land (Class A Misdemeanor) and released on a notice to appear.
