Jackie Johnson joins Freedom House Board

By The Kewanee Voice    August 25, 2026

Jackie Johnson has been elected to the Freedom House board of directors, the organization announced in a news release.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jackie to the Freedom House board,” said Chloe Lund, chief operating officer. “Her professional background, commitment to serving others and strong connection to our community will be a valuable addition to our board as we continue our mission of providing safety, healing and hope to survivors.”

Johnson is a retired occupational therapist who spent her professional career serving area communities at Perry Memorial Hospital, now OSF St. Clare and IVCH, now OSF St. Elizabeth. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois.

Johnson brings a strong history of community involvement and service to her new role with Freedom House. She has been active with Evangelical Covenant Church as a small group leader and has volunteered with the Bureau County Food Pantry and as an ESL tutor through IVCC and locally.

Johnson said she was interested in serving on the Freedom House Board because she believes strongly “in the great importance of helping people who come from abusive situations to have safety and a new start.”
