Kewanee High School’s freshman boys basketball team faced off against Sherrard for their 25th game of the year.
“In a different, two-half game, the Boilers pulled out the win 47-22,” said Coach Trenton Terry.
“Defense has always been a key for the team,” Terry said, “where we work hard in the full and half court to force the other team to shoot tough shots.
“I thought Sherrard came out strong early, shooting the ball well and with confidence, but our ability to push the ball in transition and attack the paint led to easy buckets,” the coach said.
Kewanee’s leading scorer was Dane Vandevelde with 16 points. The Boilers moved to 19-6 on the year.
