Special events planned for three KHS home games

Kewanee High School has planned special events during three home basketball games that are coming up.

“Run Around Sue Night” had been scheduled for the game Friday, Jan. 23 against Erie-Prophetstown. But since that game was postponed due to the frigid temperatures, this event is now scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13’s game against Sterling Newman Central Catholic. There’ll be a free prize for everyone attending that evening’s game.

Tuesday, Jan. 27, weather permitting, will be “Nostalgia Night” when the school will sell old Kewanites for a “buck a book.” There will also be racks of old athletic uniforms, warm-up gear, sweats and other items going out the door for a free-will donation. All of it is in excellent condition, school officials said.

Any money taken in that night will go toward the main hallway enhancement project (now being called Boilermaker Avenue). This is the hallway between the Brockman Gym and the Golby Student Center.

Friday, Jan. 30, weather permitting, will be “Flag Night” and “Rock the Brock” night. Kewanee will play Princeton that evening and there will be rededication of the Kewanee High School flag.
