Crossroads Cultural Connections recently announced the start of its indoor concert season this Sunday, Oct. 19 at Bishop Hill Creative Commons, located at 309 N. Bishop Hill St. in Bishop Hill. The concert will feature Davey and The Midnights.
Davey Allen is a versatile songwriter, musician and artist whose work is deeply rooted in the vast American songbook. Over the past 20 years, Allen has built a career that spans coast to coast, performing both as a solo artist and with his band, Davey and The Midnights, formed in 2017 on the west side of Los Angeles. Now based in Indianapolis, Ind., the band has earned a reputation as one of the hardest-working Americana acts in the country.
Their emotionally charged, high-energy performances blend country, rock, folk and soul into an authentic and electrifying live experience. Davey and The Midnights have shared the stage with a long list of acclaimed artists including Kelsey Waldon, Dale Watson, Nikki Lane, Jesse Daniel, Cristina Vane and Chris Pierce.
Beyond his band work, Davey has toured internationally as a solo artist and as keyboardist for Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Eric Burdon. He also performed with the San Francisco rock group The Stone Foxes. Offstage, Allen is an advocate for social causes, donating portions of his album sales to organizations such as the Dolores Huerta Foundation and the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Cultural Center.
The evening will begin with a community potluck dinner from 6–7 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. This all-ages show has a suggested donation of $20–$30 at the door.
The potluck is optional but highly encouraged and a great opportunity to share a meal with fellow music lovers. Guests are invited to bring a favorite dish, appetizer, dessert or drink. Plates, utensils, napkins and serving spoons will be provided.
Crossroads Cultural Connections is a non-profit organization formed in 2021, dedicated to enriching the cultural fabric of Henry County, Ill. and surrounding areas. Through live performances, arts programming, and educational opportunities, the organization works to strengthen community bonds and ensure that creativity continues to thrive in the heartland.
Bishop Hill Creative Commons serves as a hub for this mission, a collaborative space run by artists and volunteers where creativity, connection and community come together through music, art, and shared experiences.
“Join us this Sunday for a warm, communal evening of great food, inspiring music and good company as we kick off another incredible indoor concert season in Bishop Hill.”
