Galva police report for Aug. 18-24

Aug. 18:

Police met a resident at the Galva Police Department in reference to a neighbor complaint.

Police assisted the Galva Water Department after they found items in a hole they were digging in the 600 block of NW 4th Avenue.

Police provided a civil stand-by for the retrieval of property in the 300 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a complaint involving a tenant and landlord in the 100 block of Market Street.

Police responded to a city ordinance violation that involved having chickens without a permit in the 700 block of NW 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to a violation of an order of protection in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a scam complaint in the 100 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a disturbance involving a customer in the 300 block of Front Street.

Aug. 19:

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to register as a sex offender. The form was completed and emailed to Henry County for LEADS entry.

Police responded to a report of several violations of an order of protection in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a telephone harassment complaint in the 300 block of Front Street.

While patrolling, police noticed a subject sitting on a public sidewalk with open alcohol in the 300 block of Front Street. The subject was informed that it was a violation of city ordinance to consume alcohol on a public right-of-way.

While patrolling, police noticed a crossing arm malfunction at the SW 6th Avenue railroad tracks. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police assisted Henry County with a traffic stop on the east edge of Galva.

Police responded to an attempted burglary complaint in the 900 block of North Center Avenue. The damage was determined to be caused by a juvenile neighbor.

Aug. 20:

Roy Orwig, 47, Kewanee, was arrested for violation of an order of protection in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street after police obtained an arrest warrant at the Henry County courthouse. He was taken to Henry County Jail.

Police assisted the street department with moving several vehicles for road work in different areas of town.

Police checked on the welfare of a subject in the 300 block of Front Street.

Police checked the welfare of a subject in the 100 block of NW 8th Avenue. They were fine.

Police were flagged down by a juvenile bicyclist about a reckless driver who almost struck him in the 600 block of West Division Street.
The officer was not able to locate the vehicle.

Police were called to retrieve a debit card that had been found and was being turned in in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street.

Aug. 21:

Police responded to a hit-and-run accident with minor damage only in the 200 block of NW 1st Street. The officer located the other driver, and a crash report was completed.

Police responded to a heated domestic disturbance in the 100 block of NE 9th Street.

Police responded to a neglected animal complaint in the 800 block of NE 3rd Street.

Police responded to a neglected animal complaint in the 100 block of NE 1st Street.

Police responded to a complaint involving a fight that was possibly ready to begin in Washington Park.

Aug. 22:

While patrolling, police noticed a train that had stopped and was blocking all Galva crossings except SW 6th Ave. The train eventually moved along.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to update their yearly sex offender registration form. A copy was emailed to Henry County for the LEADS entry.

Police responded to a loose chicken complaint in the 200 block of NE 4th Avenue. They were able to cross the road before being recaptured.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded to an abandoned vehicle complaint just west of town on Bonham Road. It was gone upon the officer’s arrival.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 400 block of NW 9th Street. The owner was able to capture the animal and return it home.

Police responded to a neglected animal complaint in the 800 block of NE 3rd Street.

Police responded to a complaint involving juveniles hanging on the new hoops on the basketball court in Wiley Park. The juveniles were spoken to by the officer.

Aug. 23:

Police responded to a missing juvenile complaint in the 400 block of SE 3rd Street. The subject was located at a non-custodial parent’s house and taken back home.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue. It was determined to be a verbal domestic dispute.

Aug. 24:

Police responded to a complaint about a vehicle in the ditch in the 900 block of NW 6th Street. The officer found remnants of a vehicle, but it was gone upon arrival.

Police responded to a complaint involving juveniles hanging on the new hoops on the basketball court in Wiley Park. The juveniles were spoken to by the officer.

Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle in the roadway in the 500 block of SW 1st Avenue. The officer ultimately towed the vehicle after deeming it to be a traffic hazard.

Police responded to a littering complaint in the 200 block of SW 3rd Street.

Reina CapDeVilla, 58, Galva, was issued a citation for operating an uninsured vehicle in the 300 block of NW 3rd Avenue.
