Galva police report for March 31 – April 6

March 31:

Police responded to a request to remove unwanted subjects in the 100 block of SE 6th Avenue. The officer determined that the complainant was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Susan Lopez, 37, Kewanee, was arrested for driving while her license was revoked, operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. She was taken to the Galva Police Department for processing and released with a required court date.

Police met with a subject in the front lobby at the Galva Police Department in reference to questions about an ongoing child custody dispute.

Police responded to a city ordinance violation involving burning on a non-burn day in the 400 block of SW 4th Street. The subject extinguished the fire.

Police responded to a request to remove unwanted subjects in the 100 block of SE 6th Avenue. The officer determined that the complainant was suffering from a mental health crisis.

April 1:

Police responded to a disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The resident was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. The subject was advised to leave the premises.

Police responded to a disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The resident was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police removed tree branches that fell from a passing vehicle at the north edge of town.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. It was determined to be a medical call, and Stark County Medic was paged to handle.

April 2:

Police responded to a complaint of a young child who was wandering around unsupervised in the 800 block of West Division Street. A guardian was located in the 100 block of NW 8th Avenue, and the child was returned.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance involving several subjects at the SE corner of Wiley Park.

April 3:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. The animal was taken to the impound.

Misty Scott, 36, Cambridge, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 200 block of SE 2nd Street. She was released with a required court date.

As a result of a follow-up investigation to a complaint last week, a 15-year-old Galva resident was issued a juvenile referral for reckless conduct after reportedly spraying another subject with pepper spray.

Jeffrey Andrews, 57, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to an out-of-control juvenile complaint in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

April 4:

Police responded to a child custody dispute in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The resident was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a disturbance complaint in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. The subject was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police watched for a reckless driver heading towards Galva at the north edge of town. The officer was not able to locate the driver.

April 5:

Sarah Martin, 25, Orlando, Fla., was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 00 block of NE 8th Avenue. She was released with a required court date.

Police were flagged down about criminal damage to a residence after a resident found their house had been “egged” on Swank Street.

April 6:

Police responded to a disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The resident was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a disturbance complaint in the 200 block of SW 5th Street. The officer located the suspects, who then fled south of Galva and led the officer on a high-speed pursuit. The officer terminated the pursuit for safety reasons. The vehicle was later located and abandoned near Victoria. The Galva Police Department had the suspect vehicle towed.

Police assisted Knox County with a single-vehicle car vs deer accident south of town. The deer had to be dispatched, and a crash report was completed.
