Four adults and a juvenile face charges following a “group disturbance and a reported discharge of a firearm” in the 500 block of East Seventh Street Wednesday.

Kewanee Police reported Saturday that a Sheffield man, Ivan L. Schinkey, 20, sustained a “self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand” in the incident, according to a news release issued Saturday by police.

Schinkey was arrested for Class 1 felony aggravated discharge of a firearm, Class 4 felony aggravated reckless discharge of a firearm, Class 4 felony unlawful possession of a weapon and ammo, Class A misdemeanor possession of a firearm without valid Firearm Owner Identification Card and Class C misdemeanor criminal trespass to railroad property.

The news release said “further investigation” led to the arrests of Gage A. Peed, 20, of Kewanee on charges of mob action and aggravated battery; and Savanna R. Merritt, 21, and Savannah M. Ensley, 18, both of Kewanee, charged with battery. A 16-year-old male was issued a juvenile referral and released to a guardian after being charged with aggravated battery.
