Neponset kindergartener Colt Blake stands with the Shinkevich family to thank them for the special day.

On April 30, kindergarteners from Kewanee Belle, Neponset and Visitation schools participated in track and field events at KHS’s Breedlove Peterson Track. 

The yearly spring event is held in honor of the late teacher, coach,and sports enthusiast Mick Shinkevich. 

The event is known as the Shink Relays.

Those gathering for this year’s “Shink Relays” included four generations of “Shink’s” family: wife Kay Shinkevich Heaton, daughter Tammy Harker, granddaughter Samantha Rux and participant and great-grandson Ben Rux.
