With just four more concerts to go until the end of the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce’s Concert in the Park series, Executive Director Mark Mikenas is encouraging folks to come out to Veterans Park and support the KHS Boilermakers Band on Thursday, Aug. 1.

Mikenas said the band, which was awarded the title of the 2023-24 IHSA Class A State Champions, will be joined by the Conquest Drum and Bugle Corps, and he hopes to draw a big crowd for their performance.

“Come down and see these students play,” Mikenas said. “Give them a good reception. They are giving up part of their summer off to perform.”

Food will be provided by the KHS FFA, and this week, attendees will be provided an extra sweet treat. Betty’s Garden is providing free strawberry shortcake to all attendees.

After this week’s concert at Veterans Park, there will be three remaining concerts including the Incredible 45s, which will perform on Aug. 8; Crooked Cactus Band, which will perform on Aug. 15 and finishing up the concert series will be Lyle Beaver & the Brass Notes on Aug. 22.

Food service begins at 5 p.m. and the concert will start at 6:30 p.m.
