The 2023-24 school year kicked off on Tuesday, August 16 for students at Wethersfield Elementary School. Parents lined up along the fence after dropping off their kids and waited for them to enter the building. More than one “first day of school” photo was taken.

Teachers welcomed back students as the summer vacation came to an end and directed them to their new classrooms.

Over the break, Wethersfield School facilities received a facelift with new lighting, security and even flooring in some buildings, and some of the classes were moved around to other areas of the school.

Wethersfield School District is the first district to resume classes. The Kewanee School District will begin on Wednesday, August 17.
