The Wethersfield National Honor Society’s Initiative projects have crossed the finish line and recently, NHS members were able to present the Kewanee Food Pantry with a large check.

As part of the initiative, all NHS members came up with their own service project idea, planned and then ran their own event. They then set out to find local sponsors to help raise more money.

Those sponsors included Midland Golf Club, CSB, Good’s Furniture, the Packee family, The Rambling Rose, Sutton & Associates, Feltner’s Child Care, Triple C Investments, TriCo Equestrian Center, the Merrick family, the Gomez family, Union Federal Savings and Loan, April Kuster, Cerno’s, Anna and Chris Slover, Trek Construction and the First Baptist Church.

From the ten service projects, Wethersfield NHS members raised $8,562.

On Thursday, Dec. 11, the Kewanee Food Pantry Director Lisa Janey, came to Wethersfield High School. The group presented the pantry with a check for that amount.

Because of the work and dedication of the students and the generous community, many families will benefit this holiday season.
