Students from Wethersfield High School and Kewanee High School, 13 in all, met for the first orientation luncheon for The Kewanee Voice Student Journalism Program.
The luncheon was held Tuesday at the Henry County Senior Center and both high school principals, Rebecca Baney and Tyler Nichols, attended.
The program, funded last month by The Harry Anderson Memorial Trust, will focus on teaching junior and senior students how to cover and write sports articles as well as report on other school events.
The program will be led by the publisher of The Kewanee Voice, Mike Berry, and Jami Townsend, sports correspondent for the Voice, will act as the program adviser.
The students are scheduled to begin training sessions later this month. The goal is for students to begin covering winter sporting events.
