Wang’s Asian Cuisine and Gift Shop has reopened after the Henry County Health Department suspended its food permit for multiple health code violations. The restaurant was closed by the health department around Jan. 17.

The restaurant location was sold to Hsien Wang after the owners of the Great Wall closed their business and moved away. The Great Wall also lost its food permit last year before closing down for good. Wangs opened their restaurant and buffet in December of 2023.

A January 15 health inspection of Wang’s Asian Cuisine noted that the business wasn’t in compliance in several areas such as employee health, supervision, protection from contamination and food contact surfaces cleaned and sanitized.

The inspection listed over two dozen remedies to correct the violations and several observations noted that a complaint was received, although the health department doesn’t make complaints public.

The health department said the restaurant would be closed until the owners met for a compliance conference. On Friday, a notice was posted to Wang’s Cuisine and Gift Shop Facebook page announcing that they were open after consulting with the Henry/Stark County Health Department and fully meeting their criteria for a safe and healthy food environment.
