
Boiler Girls top Rock Falls
Kalleigh Gale struck out 12 batters as the starting pitcher led the Boiler Girls varsity past Rock Falls 9-3 on Tuesday. Gale surrendered five hits and three runs over six innings while walking none.
The Boiler Girls took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Audrey Clucas grounded out, Lyric Duytschaver grounded out, and Puskar singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Kewanee Boiler Girls scored five runs on seven hits in the bottom of the sixth inning with Rylee Blades homering to left field.
Kewanee tallied 12 hits in the game. Yepsen and Puskar were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Kewanee. Duytschaver led the Boiler Girls with three runs batted in.
Wednesday, March 26 vs. Canton
The Canton Little Giants scored five runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Kewanee 9-0 on Wednesday.
Canton got on the board in the top of the first inning after Makaylynne Correa singled down the left field line, and Averi Smith lined into a double play, each scoring one run.
Allyson Puskar opened the game for Kewanee. The starting pitcher surrendered nine hits and seven runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
Kieryn Abernathy led Kewanee with two hits in three at bats. Kewanee turned one double play in the game.
Thursday, March 27 vs. ROWVA-Williamsfield
Kewanee won big over Rowva-Williamsfield Lady Cougars 11-0 on Thursday.
An error put the Boiler Girls on the board in the top of the first. They added two runs in the third when Lyric Duytschaver singled to right field, making the score 3-0.
Kewanee amassed 10 hits in the game. Duytschaver led the Boiler Girls with five runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day.
Audrey Clucas went 3-for-4 at the plate with two stolen bases to lead the Boiler Girls in hits. Remy Hicks and Rylee Blades each collected multiple hits on the night.
Kalleigh Gale earned the win for Kewanee. The hurler surrendered three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking none.
