
A Champaign woman was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including drug possession and intent to deliver, following a traffic stop by the Kewanee Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit on New Year’s Eve Day, according to a KPD news release.
Rochelle Sampson, 42, was arrested after police stopped her car on Dec. 31, 2024, at approximately 2:44 p.m. in the 500 block of South Main Street.
Initially Sampson was arrested for driving a motor vehicle on a revoked driver’s license. But during a search of the vehicle, officers located 178 grams of suspected methamphetamine, packaging materials, scales, cannabis, a bludgeon club, and $757 in cash.
Sampson was taken to the KPD, where she was booked, processed, and later transported to the Henry County Jail.

She faces preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver (100-400 grams), possession of an open title, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and driving with a revoked license.
Additionally, Sampson is being held on a parole warrant issued by the Illinois Department of Corrections.
The charge of possession of methamphetamine (100-400 grams) is a Class X felony and under Illinois law carries a potential sentence of six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver (100-400 grams) is also a Class X felony, punishable by nine to 40 years in prison.
