Annawan-Wethersfield’s varsity and junior varsity Titans hosted Brimfield Wednesday and lost both games.
The varsity boys faced a tough 13-2 loss, while the junior varsity faced a 14-7 loss.
To kick off the varsity game, the Indians got on the board in the top of the first when Kaeden Schatsiek homered to left field, scoring three runs, and Dane Fagerburg hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The Indians added to their early lead in the top of the second and third innings, bringing the score to 10-2 by the top of the third.
Maddux Heitzler set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Titans with three hits in three at-bats. Nathan Harker and Jaxson Dunn each drove in one run for the Titans.
The Indians amassed 11 hits in the game.
For the junior varsity, the Titans opened the scoring in the first when London Sain hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Jaton Huber began the game for the Titans. The starter allowed four hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking six.
The Indians flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to centerfield by Karsyn Bolton.
The Indians extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Westin Smith and Bolton.
The Indians scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fourth.
Sain and Huber were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Titans. Isaiah Cornish, Cainen Winter, and Jace Nichols each collected one hit for the Titans.
The Titans had patience at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Cornish, Huber, and Cole Dynes led the team with two free passes each. Winter stole two bases.
The game concluded with the Indians victorious over the Titans, 14-7.
