On Friday night, the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans electrified the field against the Bureau Valley Storm, obtaining yet another win on the road. The Titans ended the game with a 49-10 victory, progressing their season record to 2-0.

This game was full of energy, start to finish, with both teams showing great skill and determination. In the end, Bureau Valley had some strong moments, but the Titans’ overall ability to strategize and work as a team crowned them victorious over the Storm.

The Titans came out fast in the 1st quarter. After the storm had failed to score, Maddux Heitzler managed to start the Titans off strong with a 6-0 lead from a grand 51-yard touchdown.

Despite that, A-W wasn’t done yet. After touchdowns from Heitlzer and Thurston, A-W had built a 21-0 lead to end the first quarter.

As the second quarter started to develop, the Titans stayed hot, achieving yet another touchdown and increasing the gap to 28-0.

Bureau Valley finally started to make a stand and show their adequate defense by putting some points on the board after scoring a safety, ending the first half 28-2.

In the end, the Storm fought hard and persevered in the second half, keeping the Titans on their toes, and even managing to get a touchdown, but the Titans’ amazing camaraderie, solid defense, and intense offense are what made the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans capable of this 49-10 game win over the Bureau Valley Storm.

After the game, Coach Tony Gripp was asked if there anything that can be improved or done differently.

There are always things to improve on,” Gripp said. “We had a long snap go through the back of the end zone, and we had five penalties. So we need to be a little bit more disciplined mentally.”

Asked if anything from the past two games changed his perspective on the outcome of the overall season, Gripp said,Nope. We need to continue to get better each week, and we still need to put a whole game together, and we will be in good shape at the end of the year.”
