On March 20, the varsity AW Titans traveled to Galesburg to kick start their season with a doubleheader against the East Peoria Raiders and the Knoxville Blue Bullets. After these games, the Titans hold a 1-1 record.
The top of the first opened up with the Titans up to bat.
Senior Maddux Heitzler started off the inning with a single, setting a hopefully good time for the Titans.
As the top of the first concluded, the score was 0-2 in favor of the Raiders.
Throughout the remainder of the game, the Titans continued to play with their heads held high, but they faced an unfortunate 0-10 loss by the end of the fifth inning.
But they didn’t let that loss stop them and returned to the field to play the Blue Bullets. This time around, they came alive and changed the outcome in their favor.
This game opened with the Titans taking the field, sophomore Dane Ross pitching. They held the Bullets with nothing by the time the top of the first concluded.
Maddux Heitzler started the Titans off on the right foot, hitting a triple to right. He later scored on an RBI by Nic Thurston.
The Titans took a 1-0 lead, and came out on top 5-2.
Despite having lost game one, the Titans refused to let that stop their momentum.
The Titans have three more games this week: March 25, 27, and 28.
