The Titans won 7-6 over the Spoon River Valley Miners on March 23 and 11-9 over the Mendota Trojans on March 24.

Against the Miners, the Titans got on the board first in the third inning when Emerysynn Peart reached home after a double by Liz Dooley, and Dooley crossed the plate after a solid hit to centerfield by Ava Jackson.

The Miners were unable to score against the Titans’ defense until the top of the fifth inning, where they brought the score to a 2-2 tie. The Titans quickly returned the scoring favor and got out to a five-run lead by the bottom of the fifth, bringing the score to 7-2.

The Titans were determined to keep their lead, and they did. They closed the game out with a fly-out to center fielder Jackson. The final score was a 7-6 victory for the Titans.

The next day, the Titans traveled to Mendota to take on the Trojans. This game was played out in a very similar way to the previous game: a strong win for the Titans.

In the first inning, Mendota scored one run to give their team a head start on the journey to potential victory. Not long after, the Titans tied it up 1-1 at the top of the second.

The score remained 1-1 until the Trojans had an exciting third inning, scoring four more runs and not allowing the Titans to score any until the fourth inning.

But the Titans were determined to pull the lead back to them. By the bottom of the fifth, the Trojans still held a lead over the Titans with a score of 7-4. With some solid hits and base running by the Titans, they brought the score to a tie 7-7 by the bottom of the sixth.

The score stood still at 7-7, until the top of the eighth, when the Titans scored four runs, securing them the lead.

The final score was 11-7, in favor of the Titans. Senior Wavelynn Peart contributed three hits in three at-bats– three singles.
