On Friday night, the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans faced the Havana Ducks in their 2025 Homecoming game.
The student section’s theme for this night’s game was neon. The students made sure to show out or go home and brighten the stands with not only their outfits but also their team spirit.
The Titans defeated the Ducks 42-0, ending the game a quarter early. This game provided the true significance of what it means to play A-W football, as the game captured the Titans’ undeniable speed, firm defense, aggressive offense and the passion to win.
The Titans kicked off the night with an interception by Maddux Heitzler to gain the ball a minute and a half into the First quarter. Shortly thereafter Nic Thurston used the opportunity and made a solid 48-yard rushing touchdown.
A-W knew they had to make this game memorable. They stood fierce on defense and quick on offense.
Continuing to keep being the aggressor, they scored two more touchdowns by Heitzler to end the first quarter with a score of 21-0
The second quarter began with the Titans in possession of the ball. Staying hot and explosive, 5hey scored another touchdown three minutes into the second quarter.
The rest of the second quarter reflected the true goals of the Titans and what they were striving to achieve, finalizing the score 42-0 by halftime.
Halftime consisted of an excellent performance from the A-W band as well as an introduction of the Wethersfield High School homecoming court and a warmhearted speech from the homecoming king and queen, Noah Feltner and Natalie Nelson.
The third quarter was also a performance that showed the Titans were there to win.
The Titans progressed to a 4-0 record and will be competing against Rushville-Industry in Rushville next Friday at 7 p.m.
