The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans split a conference doubleheader Monday with the visiting Stark County Rebels.

The Titans won the first game and lost the second, both by one run.

The Titans took game one dramatically, with a 1-0 walk-off victory over the Rebels. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the sixth when Pierce Childs drew a walk, scoring a run.

Throughout the game, the pitching from both sides was strong, with the Titans striking out 12 and the Rebels striking out seven.

The Titans’ starting pitcher, Pierce Childs, surrendered two hits and no runs over four and one-third innings, striking out nine and walking four. Maddux Heitzler, the second pitcher, surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking none.

In this slow-paced game, Nathan Harker, Dane Ross, Maddux Heitzler and Myer Heitzler each collected one hit.

In game two, both teams put more runs on the board, but the Rebels managed to turn the outcome in their favor. Despite the Titans collecting five hits to the Rebels’ three, they still fell 3-2.

Aaden Verstraete, Cole Goodley, Maddux Heitzler, Myer Heitzler, and Nic Thurston each collected one hit for the Titans.

In this game, the Rebels’ pitching was more successful as they struck out nine compared to the Titans’ four.

The Titans opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Thurston singled, driving in a run.

With two singles from Kaedon Steelman and Keagan Sparks, the Rebels climbed into the lead in the top of the fourth and never gave it up. The Titans fell with a score of 3-2.

Goodley and Thurston each drove in one run for the Titans. Not a single error was committed by the team with Verstraete making the most plays with four.
