ABINGDON — The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans overcame a slow start Friday night to defeat the Abingdon-Avon Tornados, 44-14, in their home opener.

A-Town struck first, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter. But the Titans, led by senior quarterback Maddux Heitzler, responded in dominant fashion, scoring 44 unanswered points to take control of the game.

The Titans’ ground attack proved unstoppable, with three players finishing the night with more than 100 rushing yards. 

The win improves Annawan-Wethersfield’s record while handing the Tornados a tough loss in front of their home crowd.
