After a big third inning, the Rockridge Rockets defeated the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans 8-2 this week.
The Titans got on the board in the top of the third inning after Maddux Heitzler tripled to center field, and Nic Thurston walked, each scoring one run.
But the Rockets flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Payten Downing that drove in three.
Myer Heitzler started on the bump for the Titans. The starter gave up zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Maddux Heitzler led the Titans with one run batted in. The leadoff hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Maddux Heitzler stole two bases. The Titans turned one double play in the game.
As the game progressed, the Titans remained at two, and the Rockets scored three more runs to make the final score 8-2.
Next up, the Titans will face the Knoxville Blue Bullets at home before traveling to Bureau Valley on Saturday for a double header.
