On Thursday, the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans softball faced the United Red Storm and came out on top, winning 12-2.

A single by Aubrey Bainter put the Red Storm on the board in the top of the first.

The Titans took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Lauren Davis singled to center field, and Emersynn Peart singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

The Titans added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Emersynn Peart singled down the left field line. Elizabeth Dooley grounded into a fielder’s choice, Ava Jackson singled down the right field line, and the Red Storm committed an error, each scoring one run.

The starting pitcher for the Red Storm went three innings, surrendering six runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking three.

Davis struck out 10 batters as the starting pitcher led the Titans past the Red Storm. Davis gave up five hits and two runs over six innings while walking one.

The Titans were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.

Overall, the team amassed five walks for the game.

The Titans won 12-2, supported by consistent batting and infield plays throughout the game.
