The Annawan-Wethersfield boys track and field teams’ season is coming to a close. On Monday (tonight) they’ll take part in the 4-team Last Chance Meet at Oregon High School and on Wednesday they’ll compete in the IHSA 1A Farmington Sectional. 

In their last two meets they had a fourth place finish and a fifth place effort. 

On May 3 they placed fourth among the 11 teams at the Lincoln Trail Conference meet at United High School in Monmouth. 

The Titans scored 79 points and just missed finishing in the top three (Abingdon-Avon was third with 80 points). Mercer County scored 103 points to claim the conference title. 

On May 6 they competed in the Pam Foley Memorial Invitational in Galva. The Titans scored 55.5 points and placed fifth among the field of nine teams. Kewanee won the meet with a score of 140 points.

Annawan-Wethersfield 

The Titans had two first place finishes at the LTC Meet. Junior speedster Zebulon Rashid was crowned conference champ in the 100 meter dash (11.24) and junior distance specialist Karson Shrum took top honors in the 3200 meter run in a time of 10:32.92.

Rashid also ran a leg on the 4×200 relay team that had a runner-up effort of 1:34.53. Also running on the relay were Devon Horrie, Wyatt DeSplinter and Brody Childs. 

Shrum had three other top five finishes. He was second in the 1600 meter run (4:41.20), fourth in the 800 meter (2:09.42) and part of the third place 4×400 relay team (Brady Childs, Brayden Novak, Drew Haverback, Karson Shrum). 

The Titans had two other third place finishes (Logan Davis in the 110 meter hurdles – 18.98) and Ayden DeValkenaere in the shot put – 42′ 2.75″). 

Cash Verstraete had a fourth place finish in the 3200 meter run (11:16.67) and the Titan 4×800 relay team placed fifth in a time of 9:35.72. Members of the 4×800 team are Noah Feltner, Logan Davis, Matthew Ponce, and Daylon Hendrix

Stark County 

The Rebels had three first place finishes. Nolan Orwig won both hurdles events. In the 110 hurdles he clocked in at 16.36 and in the 300 hurdles he had a time of 42.66. Matthew Bowser won the triple jump with a leap of 41′ 6.75″. 

Cambridge 

Taylor Snook was first in the shot put with a distance of 43′ 0.5″.

Karson Shrum had wins in the 1600 and 3200 meter races. He ran the 1600 in 4:39.35 and the 3200 in a time of 10:13.88. 

The Titans had three fourth place finishes. Wyatt DeSplinter was fourth in the 200 meter dash (23.91), Noah Feltner was fourth in the 1600 meter run (4:56.43) and the 4×400 relay (3:44.92) finished fourth as well. Members of the relay are Castin Rash, Drew Haverback, Kaden Gradert and Karson Shrum. 

Two Titan relay teams placed fifth (4×200 and 4×800). Members of the 4×200 are Rash, Wyatt DeSplinter, Riley Rumbold and Drew Haverback. The 4×200 had a time of 1:38.17.

Members of the 4×800 team are Alec Early, Layne Seiden, Matthew Ponce and Noah Feltner. The team clocked in at 9:53.39.
