Last Wednesday, the KHS girls track and field team competed at the IHSA sectionals in Rock Falls. Three athletes qualified for the state meet Friday.

Sophomore Danielle Jo Currier qualified by placing second in both the long jump and triple jump.

Sophomore Jendayia Crowe qualified by running a state-qualifying time in the 300m hurdles and ended up in fifth place.

Senior Stardeja Jordan qualified in shot put with a state-qualifying throw. Earlier this year, she also qualified for state in indoor track and field.

As a team, Kewanee placed eighth.

Other highlights include:

Freshman Olivia Ralston placed sixth in the 800-meter run.

Sophomore Nolie Charlet placed fifth in the 2-mile run.

Senior Tejihiana Amos placed sixth in the high jump.

A 4×400 of Crowe, Ralston, Charlet, and Amos barely missed a state qualifying time.

The three state qualifiers will head to Eastern Illinois University this weekend to compete for the Boilers once again.
