An investigation into a fatal stabbing incident on Thursday has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile, according to a news release from the Kewanee Police Department.

According to the release, officers from the KPD responded to a call at Fairview Homes on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 11:52 a.m. following a report of a stabbing that occurred during a fight.

Upon arrival, officers found a man lying on the blacktop roadway in Fairview, bleeding from his injuries. Officers, along with Kewanee Fire Department EMS personnel, immediately began providing medical assistance. The man was transported to OSF St. Luke Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile was arrested and taken to the Kewanee Police Department. The juvenile was later transferred to the Mary Davis Home in Galesburg.

The Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office has been notified of the investigation and will review the incident for charges on Jan. 3.

The Kewanee Police Department will continue to provide updates on this investigation as additional information becomes available and can be released.
