The Henry-Stark Counties Special Education District is hoping to turn community generosity into sensory support, by partnering with Honey Helps to raise funds for a new sensory room at the soon‑to‑open Wings Academy.

The Wings Academy is currently under renovation and will be a transformative special education center located at the former American Legion building at 1509 Railroad Avenue in Kewanee. This center will offer a state-of-the-art facility for students of “high need” from kindergarten through 12th grade. The academy is expected to open mid-August of this year.

The honey fundraiser will help create a dedicated Sensory Room that will provide students with a calming space to relax, reset and recharge during the school day.

To help bring this space to life, the district and Honey Helps are inviting the community to contribute by purchasing honey, with all proceeds helping with the room’s construction.

The sale ends March 22 with purchased item pick up dates set for March 25-27 at the HSCSED office at 1318 W. 6th Street, Kewanee between 12-4 p.m.
