Central Junior High’s seventh-grade track team displays the plaque they received for winning the regional.

Central Junior High’s seventh-grade boys track team is wrapping up a successful season.

“All seven schools that are part of the conference have a track invitational meet and go through all the junior high track events,” coach Tony Ramos said.

Central won the meet with 98 points, followed by Knoxville JHS with 87 ,Aledo Mercer County 73, Sherrard JHS 52, Rockridge JHS 46, Orion 36 and Monmouth 34.

Anton Jones won the 100 meters with a time of 12.71, placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.31 and won the high jump with a height of 1.52 meters.

Other individual performances were:

Hudson Duytschaver placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:36.46

Ivan Martinez finished second in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:30.67

Cruz Cortes ended up third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.51

Theo Tavares won the pole vault with a height of 1.82 meters and ended up 3rd in the long jump with a jump of 4.49 meters

Central won the 4×100 relay with a time of 52.13 (Ivan Martinez, Theo Tavares, Cruz Cortes and Anton Jones)

The team placed third in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:40.07 (Hudson Duytschaver, Ryan Pratt, Ivan Martinez and Cameron Cleaver)

The sectional meet will be on Saturday in Canton. “We hope to have a few athletes make it to State,” Ramos said.
