The Titans and several other area teams competed in the IHSA 1A Farmington Sectional on Wednesday. Mercer County topped the 18- team field with 92 points and Annawan-Wethersfield was seventh with 45.5 points.

Three members of the Annawan-Wethersfield boys track and field team have advanced to the IHSA 1A state finals in Charleston. 

Junior distance runner Karson Shrum, will be competing in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Junior Zebulon Rashid will be running in the 100 meter dash and Irvin Landwehr will be competing in the pole vault. 

Stark County junior Nolan Orwig is also headed to the state meet, which will be held May 23-25 on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Orwig qualified three events (200 meter dash, 110 hurdles and 300 meter hurdles). 

Annawan-Wethersfield 

Shrum won the 3200 with an impressive time of 9:58.57, well below the state qualifying standard of 10:12.6. He had a third place finish in the 1600, clocking in at 4:36.44 (besting the qualifying time of 4:39.5). 

Rashid had a strong runner-up effort in the 100 meter dash, crossing the finish line at 11.18 (the qualifying time is 11.33).

Junior Irvin Landwehr cleared 11′ 1.75″ and placed second in the pole vault. 

Stark County 

Nolan Orwig won the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 42.48, well under the qualifying standard of 44.52. He was second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.65 and third in the 200 meter run at 23.05.
